History, origin and foundations
The Alexander Technique is a method of psychophysical re-education developed by Frederick Matthias Alexander in London at the end of the 19th century. Alexander, an Australian actor, discovered that unconscious postural habits interfere with the body's natural functioning.
Today it is internationally recognised and applied by musicians, actors, athletes, and individuals in search of well-being. It is taught in conservatoires and universities worldwide. It is used in a complementary manner in injury rehabilitation processes.
In Chile, the Alexander Technique Training School Chile has carried forward this tradition since 2022, within the framework of international standards safeguarded by ATAS (Alexander Technique Affiliated Societies) and with a direct connection to AAPTA from Argentina.
